What is Reiki Jin Kei Do?
Reiki is a Japanese word. Rei means Spirit. Ki means energy or life force.
Reiki Jin Kei Do means the “Way of Wisdom and Compassion.”
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. Reiki involves the placement of hands on different parts of the body to direct energy in order to release tension, discomfort, and enhance well-being. “Life force energy” flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one’s “life force energy” is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy. Reiki can be easily learned by anyone.
Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese Shingon Buddhist, developed the healing system of Reiki in the early 1900’s. Reiki Jin Kei Do is composed of 3 pillars of training: Meditation, Qi-gong, and integration of Reiki into our daily lives.
Karl believes that Reiki has helped slow the progression of his Parkinson’s disease symptoms, increased my energy level, and helped me stay emotionally balanced with the effects of the disease. As a carepartner, Reiki has helped Angela in dealing with stress, migraine headaches, and the emotional issues of carepartnering.
